inov-8 Roclite 315

The inov-8 Roclite 315 is the most durable shoe in inov-8's range. So much so that a lot of people use the 315 not only as a running shoe but also as a trekking come approach shoe. But it is running where it comes into it's own. The 315 is the ideal shoe for stony tracks and trails where you will need a reliable grip and good levels of comfort and support. The support is provided by the webbing cradle that envelopes the foot and prevents the foot from rolling within the shoe.
The sole unit is formed from inov-8's Endurance rubber, this produces a good level of grip and is tougher than a sticky compound. The graded lugs ensure good grip over rough terrain, whether that's rocky tracks to muddy trails. The centre of the sole has been formed into a Fascia Band, this is a replication of the plantar fascia ligament and it provides improved propulsion efficiency and reduces fatigue.
The foot is further supported by the Meta Shank, the five fingers of the shank align the metatarsal giving underfoot impact protection. This is sandwiched between the sole and moulded mid sole that absorbs shock as you run.

I've previously been a long term Asics purchaser but thought I'd give Inov8 a go following a friends recommendation.
Excellent quality with a good weight. I would have preferred a little more reinforcement on the top as my big toe often wears through but these 315s seem to be holding up well. Size wise I was identical to my normal Asics size which contradicts some online suggestions that you should go 1/2 to 1 size up.
On the trails they have gripped far better than my Asics. They need a few more miles under the belt before I can give them 5 stars but looks promising so far. Great customer service as always from FW.

Massively impressed with this shoe. Been using them happily for a year or so, but yesterday was the Tough Guy challenge. Lots of other competitors slipping and sliding in appalling conditions, but I didn't slip once. I had real confidence in them. I am so pleased with these shoes!!

This is a very good shoe indeed1 I own/have owned several pairs of Innov8 and now would not consider any other brand of off road shoe. Their range has something for every type of terrain.
The 315 has a deep almost studded sole which I find particularly useful at this time of year (winter) as there is plenty of bite. Consequently its very easy to stay balanced on greasy terrain (wet grass and/or mud)and this helps you maintain an efficient run cycle. There is also enough cushioning in the sole for brief sections of road so this shoe should suit for most types of trail races.
Flatter soles might suit the warmer months of the year but for fell or winter trail use these are the business!

Bought this shoe to run along the coastal paths. Found them to be much lighter compared to my running shoes and very comfortable. I didn't have to wear them in at all. The customer service advice was really good as well when I said I didn't know what size shoe to purchase for this make, they suggested I bought 2 pairs and returned the non-fitting one using their customary pre-printed returns label that come with the shoe (postage was included as well).

Fantastic! They fit me perfectly, and I must be on my 4th pair of them by now.
When I first tried them, they were a huge change from the big sturdy, padded 'off road' shoe I'd used before, but it only took a few runs to appreciate the amazing feedback you get through your feet, which makes it so much easier to be sure-footed on tricky terrain. Lightweight, and give all-round good grip on most trails - rocks, grass, mud, snow, etc.

A good shoe which is more comfortable to run in that some of the more basic inov8. As always they have a good sole. However, they are much deeper and wider than may inov8 shoes and I found my foot was moving around a lot in them especially coming downhill so they are not the ideal invo8 shoe for people with narrow low volume feet.
