The inov-8 Mistlite Shells were designed with one thought in mind - Fell Running. They needed to be light, very packable, satisfy the F.R.A (Fell Runners Association) guidelines as waterproof and be excellent value for money (Fell runners are pretty mean).

The Mistlite Pants, at 130g, are the lightest waterproof trousers that we sell. Made from a durable coating nylon fabric they meet the F.R.A. criteria for waterproof but it should be noted that they do not have taped seams. The Mistlite pants have an athletic cut which makes them a lot less flappy than most waterproof trousers. They have elasticated waist and leg hems with no adjustment and no zips. This keeps the weight down but means you will probably have to remove your footwear to get them on. They fold into a small pocket on the rear hem if you are not using them with the Mistlite Jacket.

Although conceived for fell running the Mistlite Pants great for anyone who wants a light shell for back up use that won't break the bank.

I have the matching jacket so thought I would give these a try. The lack of leg zips isn't a big problem for me as I mainly use them if it’s already raining. They are well designed and the size large fitted perfectly. The main selling point for these is that they are incredibly light. You hardly feel you are wearing them... which is a big bonus as other waterproof trousers I have tried are not comfortable for running. A good tip is to use these with mini gaiters when running off-road to keep you dry. At this price these are great value and I would certainly buy these again.

Purchased these recently, tried them on and returned them. They are extremely light & would be ideal for fell/trail running execept for one thing. Without calf zips it's impossible to get them on over shoes. That makes them useless in my opinion.
I have size 12 feet so it might be possible to do it if you've got smaller feet. If they're ever made with zips I'd buy them. The 2 stars are for the lightweight fabric.

Facewest Comment: These pants are designed by a Fell Running company to be the lightest waterproofs possible. For ultra-lightweight trips and mountain marathons, these are the pants to buy. Staff here have found it may be a struggle to get them on over your shoes but it's not impossible.
