Hennessy Snake Skins

The Hennessy Hammock Snakeskin is an instant stuff sack for your Hennessy hammock. This simple and effective system collapes a full Hammock in a matter of seconds and helps to keep the shelter clean and dry by stopping it from touching the ground.

Snakeskins are two tapering tubes of silnylon material which are threaded on to the ropes at the end of the hammock. When the hammock is in use they sit gathered up at the end of the ropes. When collapsing your hammock the first step is to roll up the hammock and fly then all you need to do is slide the snakeskins over from both sides. The hammock, fly and cords are now held neatly in the snakeskins and the package can be untied and thrown in your pack.

I purchased the snakeskins for a hennessy explorer deluxe hammock, they are very good indeed, keeps hammock nicely packed and makes for easy pitching and packing away. Nice. I could see it being a bit of a pain without them. It deserves a 5 rating. Shame it didn't come with the hammock though?

Really love them. Makes set up really fast and easy. The only downside is that it is harder to stuff the "snake" into the sack. But quick set up is key for me.

A must for hammock owners, easy use, makes for a fast take down/put up of hammock plus protects from contamination from ground when packing kit away.

I ordered these snakeskins along with the Hennessy Explorer Deluxe Hammock.

The Explorer Deluxe is one of the largest hammocks Hennessy sell and after a little trial and error, I found the snakeskins fitted well. I leave the rainfly connected to the hammock mains and pull the skins down over everything. I run a seperate ridgeline for the rainfly and it does not attach to the tarp - just free floats between the trees, to hold a sharp crease. Take down the ridgeline, and roll it up into the hammock, and pull the snake skins down over the whole System. It does make it more difficult to stuff back into the sack, but for the convenience of setup and take down with a few minutes, they are worth it.

I would highly recommend this product.

I've used these for a while now, and I'm still not sure what to think of them...

I liked: They aid pitching the hammock, as well as putting it away. They also keep it dry and free of dirt/thorns should it come into contact with the floor.

I disliked: Using it with the Hennessy Explorer Deluxe, it seemed like a tight fit, and isn't as easy to put on as the DD hammock sleeve. My biggest negative though, is if it rains heavily while the hammock is up, water will travel down the rope and gather inside the Snakeskins. This can be handy to collect water if you're desperate for it, but if you're in a hurry to put your hammock away, water on the inside of your Snakeskins is going to get your hammock wet, and keep it wet until you next get it out.

Quite a flaw, and so far I've not found another way around this. Without these niggles, it's a 5 star product.

Great bit of kit. The Hennessy Snake Skins are perfect for setting up and packing down your hammock in a matter of seconds. This little piece of kit is essential for hammocking and barely adds any weight to the set up. I really love the fact that you can pack away the hammock itself but still have the tarp up, simply brilliant. Small downside is that the two sleeves overlap a lot, but it is easily dealt with and keeps the water mostly out.

Essential to buy with any Hennessey hammock. Allows you to quickly pack and unpack the whole of the hammock set up including the tarp without any flapping about or the hammock touching the ground. They easily slide along the length of the hammock and are really easy to use.

Even though it only takes 3 minutes to set a Hennasy hammock up these make it even quicker and easier to set up and pack away. They are strong and very durable. I found it quite fun to do it but you have to install them the first time than after that you donít need to. They stop the Hammock from getting wet because you wonít need to put it on the floor to pack it away. Itís packed away whilst it is still in the trees this is good for you and your hammock as it wonít get wet and muddy, and you donít have to bend over which is good if you are older.
