The Hennessy Explorer Deluxe is more than just a hammock, the Hennessy Hammock is a complete ultralight shelter and hammock rolled into one. The Explorer Deluxe is a bigger version of the Expedition Asym (see related products below). It is designed for those over 6ft tall and up to 140kg.

The Explorer Hammock is shaped to keep your back straight and level when lying down making it a great choice for those who struggle when camping on hard ground. The Explorer Deluxe is a hammock, tent, chair and lounger all in one lightweight combo and provides excellent protection from the sun, wind, rain and insects.

Our Hennessey Hammocks now come with a choice of two closures, the first is the classic double flap base set up - enter through the bottom of the hammock and it closes automatically once you're inside. The second is the more compact and lower profile zipped side opening. The weights and pack size are the same for both so which you choose is down to personal preference.

I purchased this product for lightweight overnight camping as a replacement for my hike tent. The hammock is a great size and weight making it much easier to carry in a small pack than my tent. Setting up was simple taking only a few minutes and packing up was equally easy.

In use the hammock was very comfortable as well as easy to enter and leave. The hammock coped well with rain and wind with little movement and no rain entering under the fly. The pocket and hook system inside for storing gear is useful and well thought out allowing me to get clothes, boots and small items stowed safely inside. There was also room in the hammock for my small pack to sit comfortably inside with me.

All in all an excellent product.

Super dooper is all I can say, what a clever item! It fixes up to the trees perfectly well and is easy to set up. the hammock itself is very lightweight, breaths and dries easily and the tarp, with the correct set-up, will see water streaming off you allowing a perfect night sleep. I've used this same item in rainforests, deserts, mountains and normal British terrain with only problems being mosquitoes!

Very good and hard wearing hammock.

Recently used this Hammock to go camping in Scotland in the frost. I've added a Nite Eze large figure of 9 to make the tightening of the rope easier and tighter, and I would recommend this addition. (it would be good if Facewest were to stock them too - as they seemed to be the cheapest for the hammock).

With an oversize roll mat and a 4 season sleeping bag - this is sheer luxury. Easy to put up, to take down, to dry and packs down well. It uses NoSeeUm mesh - so will be midge proof in the summer months. I think this is going to be one of the best bit of kits I’ve ever bought. Buy one, take a tarp, with a decent mat and sleeping bag - and leave the tent. Makes you feel much closer to nature. Not sure what it would be like in a high wind though.

A very comfortable relaxing way of sleeping. Nice and cool in hot places. Easy to get inside and once inside gives you a good seal against bugs. Size wise it is easily big enough for people well over 6ft tall.

The hammock comes with no meaningful instructions but youtube and various website including that of the manufacturer will give you many alternative ways to hang it up. Lots of practice in the garden is the key. The slings supplied are quite small and you many want to buy some tubular tape if you will be going somewhere with big trees. The tarp is good, however precise positioning is key as it is cut quite precisely and if not aligned with the hammock you will get wet. Unfortunately the hammock is not Permethrin treated to repel wee beasties so if you plan to go anywhere with a high risk of malaria then buying some Permethrin to treat the hammock and its integrated mosquito net would be essential. When buying the hammock remember to also buy a set of snake skins as it makes packing and unpacking loads easier.

Overall the best hammock you can get and well worth the money. I have seen people struggle with complex separate hammock, tarp and mosquito net set ups. The Hennessey does it all in one easy package.

I first bought the hennessy ultralight hammock, but after a few uses realized that it would be too small for me and my pack, to use in comfort. I decided to upgrade to the deluxe and Facewest was the cheapest place to buy it. I am very happy I up-sized, the quality of these hammocks is really exceptional, and they really have been thought about very well. They are hard to put up at first, but the hennessy website puts you right, and is also a good source for a lot of other helpful information (if you havent already been on there).
This hammock is much more comfortable than a tent and sleeping mat combo- dont think of this as a typical hammock, it allows you to sleep almost completely horizontally, and hugs around you very nicely. I use it with a sleeping mat underneath, which helps to make it warmer, and a little more comfortable. I use this instead of a tent, I find it more comfortable, lighter than most tents, and considerably cheaper than a tent of similar weight. Also can be used in different ways- as a chair, or a simple rain cover. I really couldn't recommend this enough!

Bought as a backup for when a tent isn't practical, it takes up a small enough amount of space to not be a burden and gives so much peace of mind on a trip and makes such a comfy bed it's worth just throwing it in your pack just in case. Do take note of how it is folded before you unpack it however as it's tricky to get it back into such a small package.
The lashing instructions made little sense and I had it set up wrongly the first few times - the Hennessy website has a good video which put me right.
The velcro bottom entry is ingenious and the asymmetrical setup stops the curvature you'd usually get from a hammock. Really cosy inside with some nice features for keeping your stuff safe.
