 Helly Hansen Lifa is the most well known and recognisable base layer thermal available.
The Helly Hansen stripes down the arms truly are an icon of the outdoor world. Worn by mountaineers, climbers and runners for the last 30 years.
It's not always been the same fabric though. Today's Lifa is a 100% synthetic hydrophobic fabric, which means that the fabric and the mechanical action of you moving about drive the water (sweat normally) through the fabric and onto the outer surface, where it will evaporate or soak into the layer above it.
For any clothing system to work effectively then each layer must do its job, but with Lifa as your baselayer you know the job has been started properly.
The Helly Hansen Lifa Stripe Crew is from Helly Hansen's Dry range (as opposed to their Cool and Warm ranges) so it's principal activity is wicking moisture. It will dry very quickly in a warm environment but will need a suitable mid layer for colder environments.
