Bought to see if was capable of side-compression of a sleeping bag. It's not really up to that sort of use. Not quite big enough and the fabric and straps are not robust enough. I have re-purposesd it as a dirt laundry sack.

I bought this stuff sack to keep my kit dry as well as tightly compressed/together in a 20l sack while mountain marathoning (I don't use a heavy liner with this type of event, preferring to pack items individually for easier and quicker access). Stuff sacks are typically stiff and heavy and I wanted to save the space and weight while still keeping my kit dry. This stuff sack achieved these aims - and I tried a few to find the best one for this purpose/my needs.

Pros: extremely light, taped seems aids waterproofing, compresses across its full length, translucent enough to see most of the contents when closed.

Cons: doesn't have a valve to release excess trapped air but then that would add to the weight and cost. Given its weight, I was concerned it might not be tough enough to withstand being compressed tightly and its ability to take some wear and tear but, so far, it seems fit for purpose and fine. The Medium is a useful size for most loads, whereas I found the small just too small to take sufficient gear (lightweight sleeping bag and clothes together). Worth buying.

As you would expect the bag is very light. The construction is good, the only thing that concerns me at all is the small buckle - although well made and appropriate to the weight, I'd be tempted to spend a few more grammes here. The compression strings and attachments are also useful for alternative methods of securing the bag, along with the handle-strap on the bottom.

The Ultralite Compression Bag from Exped is simply very good at what it does ! This one was bought as a replacement bag for my tent and has two significant advantages over the original tent bag - it is lighter , and it is waterproof. This means that I can either attach the tent to the outside of my pack without it becoming heavy and waterlogged in the rain , or that i can pack a wet tent without soaking all my other gear in the pack (never leave a tent packed wet long though ...). Pros Lightweight Waterproof Easily compresses down with the cords attached Cons Material feels a little light - not sure how tough it would be if subjected to much abuse . You need to leave the end open to compress and then close it up afterwards (not a big issue).

I was looking for an ultralite compression sack to store my Nordisk Telemark 2 tent on the outside of my OMM Villain 45 rucksack. The "sausage shape" of these sacks is just what I was looking for. Wasn't sure if the small would be large enough so ordered both small & medium sizes. The small was actually perfect for the job with the tent easily being accomodated. Materials seem to be top quality. Passed it's first test being strapped to the outside of my pack on a trip through the Lairig Ghru with flying colours. Happy to also have the medium size, as my intention is to use this for winter camping kit - down sleeping bag & down clothes - so I'm confident this will have it's uses too. Great product that I expect to last if looked after properly as with all ultralite equipment.

Exped ultralight compression bag size medium. Firstly the weight of the bag is 46 grams it is transparent enough to see what the contents are. I am really pleased with this product the design it is very well thought out. The seams are taped the compression cords running side to side on the front are well made and so is the roll neck and clip system. I can fit all my summer hiking gear in this (rab neutrino 200 sl sleeping bag & buffalo techlite shirt ,buffalo windshirt ,buffalo boxer shorts hiking socks buffalo reversible gilet and silk sleep bag liner ,spare lightweight walking trousers) which is fantastic!. As per usual with exped it is an excellent product.

I needed two lightweight waterproof compression sacks for compressing the inner and outer of my Hilleberg Akto tent, to keep them separate for when the rain comes. I purchased the ruby red 13L at 42g to determine if it was suitable.

The tent outer fits the sack perfectly, although it appears very minimalist in terms of compression, it compresses extremely well, all the air can be forced out and then the top rolled and clipped into place, then the compression cords can be tightened. Creating a very flat air tight package.

There are no negatives to this compression sack, I will most certainly be using these for a long time.

Great compression bag!

I store all my clothes during a hike and it keeps them dry and makes a good job (compression). The bag is really light.

The first time I used the bag I had some problems to get out the air from the bag, but when I figured out how it worked it was easy to use.

I bought this compression bag to pack clothes in my backpack and save space. I found the straps to tighten the bag of felt really good. I think they will last long. It felt a bit like a weakness that the fabric was considerably thin. But it's an ultralight bag so it must be expected. The thing that could be improved is to put an air valve so you can get the air out easier when you tighten the bag with the straps. Very affordable and good compression bag overall. The compression works nice if you close the bag after you have tighten the straps.
