For winter 2012, The Eagle 10 is being discontinued and from winter 12/13 we will only have the Eagle 12. So these binding are on sale. Functionally they are the same as the Eagle 12 just with a slightly lower DIN range.
The Eagle binding is aimed at lightweight backcountry skiers and ski tourers who want a single binding for resort and backcountry skiing with full step in/step out performance. The Eagle replaced the Diamir Explore binding. Compared to the Explore the Eagle has better performance both up and down.
Uniquely it has "Diamir Gliding Technology". This is a clever way of saying that it has a nice walking motion. It achieves this by having a virtual rotation point, this is possible due to some clever engineering.
Full details of that feature are here.

The Diamir Eagle Virtual Pivot
The virtual pivot enables a more natural walking movement. This saves energy on long climbs.

Diamir Active Safety
As the binding toe piece rotates the AFD device moves in line. This massively reduces the friction that your boot can exert on the binding plate. This is a particular advantage for vibram soled boots.

Diamir Eagle Review
Reviewer: James Heaney, Dunfermline (13-5-2011)
I bought these bindings after a lot of research, as I'm new to the touring side of skiing. I have them fitted to a pair of Rossignol Bandit B2 and they work very well. They are light enough for multi-day trips (I did 5days hut to hut in the Ecrins this year) and have all the benefits of an Alpine binding. I use the Axion crampons with them, this lets the crampon be where you want it when you need it. I also use the leases for steep descents in case I come out of them, although they are fitted with brakes. I would recommend them.

Diamir Eagle Review

I was new to Ski Touring and was going to go for a cheaper binding. I was used to alpine bindings that need no special features.I was soon persuaded to pay more for the quality features of this binding. When touring it is important things don't fail. At 100kg I put a lot of stress on equipment so went for the best.
