The Deuter Guide 35+ is a mid sized climbing and mountaineering pack which is designed for maximum comfort when climbing and scrambling. The Guide 35+ Features the Deuter Alpine back system, an extremely supportive yet light frame which will keep you comfortable even when the pack is fully loaded. The single large compartment can be expanded thanks to it's floating lid to give you enough capacity for almost any climbing situation. The durable ice-axe loops, daisy chains, hip-belt gear-loops and a-frame ski-carry mean that this pack is ideal for year round alpinism and mountaineering as well as mountain rock and cragging.
The Deuter Guide 35+ is constructed from super-durable Deuter Macrolite fabric which offers superb abrasion resistance for gnarling your way up chimneys in Wales or hauling on big alpine faces. Much of the weight of the pack can be stripped, including the back system to give a stripped weight of 1.4kg. This might be our most versatile climbing sack with the performance and flexibility to cope with every mountaineering scenario.

Deuter Guide 35+ Review

I bought this pack for a ski mountaineering trip. The 35+ means 35+8 and I found it big enough for multi-day tours - there's easily space for shovel, probe, crampons, skins, couteau, axe, food/drink and extra clothes. The side zip makes access fairly easy, although there's no separate compartment for shovel/probe.
The pack has aluminium supports and a foam pad, both of which are removable. If you remove the supports it easily fits into the Easyjet hand luggage compartment. I left the foam pad at home to save weight and didn't notice any loss of support. The pack sits comfortably on the hips and shoulders and although there are lighter ones around (North Face Prophet 40) it didn't seem heavy.
All in all would recommend - our IFMGA guide with 20 years experience who has one which probably says something.

The Deuter guide 35+ is a very good bag, I bought this bag for mountain days and climbing days. I have not had the opportunity to use it as an alpine bag with the ice axe fitting but for a mountain bag it fits all the kit you need and more with the + section of the bag.
It has a zip that runs the whole length of the bag which makes it very easy to access anything that is packed further down the bag. It sits very comfortable on your back and with the cool flow system on the back makes it very comfortable on hot days. The bag is designed to be a seat which it an essential thermal barrier while sitting on cold ground.
