The Deuter Edge is a large freeride or small touring pack for skiers and snowboarders with an intergral back protector.
The Back Protector is TUV approved, which is a German safety standard mark, so you know it will really work. The Edge is a great pack for those who want extra protection but also need to carry a bit of extra gear as well.

TUV/GS inspected PPE back protector in viscose-elastic SC-1 foam. Flexible and comfortable.
Back access panel to allow unrestricted access to your gear even when carrying skis or a board.
Padded hip belt with zip pocket and gear loop.
Front shovel compartment with probe and shovel handle slot.
Soft lined goggle pocket at front.
All round compression straps.
Snowboard,snowshoe & ski attachment system.
Ice axe loops.
The Edge comes in 2 sizes, the 25 and 30.
The Edge 25 is designed for people with a back length (top of hip to inner shoulder) of 38-49cm and has a volume of 25 litres.
The Edge 30 is designed for people with a back length (top of hip to inner shoulder) of 44-54cm and has a volume of 30 litres.

It is important that you pick the correct size of pack for your back length not the volume of pack you prefer. Unless you are lucky enough to be in the cross over area of 44-49cm when you have the choice.
