Reviewer: Andrew Dines, Chamonix/Cheadle   (18-2-2011)

I've been through about 6 pairs of these in 12 seasons in the Alps and I keep buying them as I reckon it is the minimum you need to spend to get a good pair of ski/boarding gloves. I won't spend any more as ski/boarding gloves are ultimately a disposable commodity as far as I am concerned - you can easily spend £80. I tend to spend more on climbing gloves.

They are great for skiing and boarding, grippy palm and wiper blade and the little chamois on the thumb (for wiping nose!) actually work pretty well. I don't really suffer from cold hands, so find them good to about -6C without the liners. With liners maybe -10C. If you ride in colder climes you might want to go a bit more upmarket. Inners are good on their own for skinning.

They are pretty breathable but you will get a bit sweaty in warm spring skiing. Waterproofing pretty good as well.

Tend to last me about 120 days riding, i.e. a full season and a half. The best glove I have found in terms of performance/price.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Great quality, great value, essential kit

Reviewer: Tom Drake-Lee, Hassocks   (22-1-2011)

I used wristguards as a beginner but 15 years later I thought I didn't need them. I took a slam last year and although I didn't break my wrist it has only just recovered, nearly a year later. So I bought a pair of Dakine Novas with inbuilt wristguards.

They're warm, comfortable and durable. Although the movement isn't as it would be in a normal glove I got on just fine with them (I took out the plastic support on the back of the hand) and better than with separate wristguards all those years ago. I took a couple of spills and was glad I had them for protection. They're great for confidence in the park and backcountry hits. For my money they're great value - most gloves are so expensive but these are brilliant value and essential kit.

My only word of warning is that if you have large hands, go for the XL option as they come up a bit small.

Reviewer: SDB, Glasgow   (9-11-2010)

It always amazes me how hard it was to get gloves with decent built in wristguards - I have just started using these gloves, having previously used the Dakine wristguards with separate gloves.

The gloves are excellent quality and well made, with a good quality rubber material on the palm. The aluminium wristguard curves round your palm to protect your palm and your wrist from bending back when you fall, and it’s built into the glove. There is a removable plastic insert on the opposite side of the glove - personally I didn't like this so removed it but that’s personal preference.

Overall these gloves are great - the benefit of the wristguard protection without the extra hassle of putting on wristguards and gloves. A great product.
