Dakine Heli Pack
£52.00
The Dakine Heli Pack is Dakine's best selling snowsports pack, a classic season after season. The Heli pack is a low volume, no nonsense sack for boarders or skiers who want a pack for resort riding and short backcountry sessions.
Enough room for your safety gear and a few other items but very slim fitting and unobtrusive on your back. The Dakine Heli Pack is able to carry your board or skis but due to it's size is more suited to short access hikes rather than backcountry missions. A great pack for days on or off the piste.

Dakine Heli Pack Review

This bag is perfect for the regular rider. It is very low profile which helps you feel balanced whilst riding. The shoulder straps click together at the waist and chest so you never feel like the bag is bouncing around on your back.
The board carry bit on the back took a little while to figure out but now I use it whenever I'm hiking for some refreshments. This leaves both hands free for climbing/drinking/throwing snowballs. very useful!

I purchased this bag for general all-day on piste snowboarding, and it’s a great solution.
For me the main selling point was that a Dakine hydration pack can be added, and you can run the rubber drinking tube all the way through the arm of the bag so that the drinking nozzle is easily accessible through the small zip, and the tube is protected from freezing.
Another great feature of this bag is that it is low profile to your back - good for balance and sitting on chairlifts. Also the bag is held securely in place with waist and chest straps.
The snowboard vertical carry option works well too. As a boarder, I’ve not used the ski carry option.
I find the bag plenty big enough, you can easily carry a jumper, lunch and more in the main body, but for hard core skiers or those that want to carry a lot you may wish to consider a bigger bag in the range.
The bag is well made and long lasting, and everything most people will ever need on the slopes.

Great pack, but if you want fit more in apart from base essentials (i.e. shovel, probe, a hard-shell, sun-cream and a camera) I'd pick something bigger.

What a great little pack!!
Just big enough to fit your standard avalanche-gear (shovel and probe) plus an extra pair of goggles, hydration system a little lunch or a spare shirt. But then it’s full.
Fits really great on my back (I am 182cm tall) and is great for chair-lifts since it is pretty flat.
I also have a Dakine Heli Pro, but this one seems to be just what I need for everyday skiing.
The carrying system works great too, but not as good as on the Heli Pro.

This pack was purchased for a general everyday ski pack. It is a perfect size in that it is small enough to not snag on the chairlifts but also large enough to accommodate the essentials i.e. spare gloves, googles, food, water, layering etc, with ability even to attach helmet on the outside. Would definitely reccomend to anyone looking for a dully functioning and capable everyday ski / snowboard bag.

I bought this pack for skiing off and on piste. Off piste it holds enough gear for short trips eg. probe, shovel, tranceiver, spare layers and food but is not designed for extended or overnight tours. On piste is much the same story with the advantage of it hugging your back so as not to get caught on chairlifts etc.
As an added bonus, it makes an excellent mountain bike pack as it is big enough to hold a helmet and armour if you need it to. In all, an excellent multi use pack with only a few drawbacks.
