Just shelled out for a new pair of skis, so I bought this lock to give me some peace of mind leaving them lying around in busy resorts. I'm pleased with this purchase - the lock is nicely designed and worked well. It's simple to operate, and the mechanism coped well despite some brutal temperatures. The instructions are clear and tell you everything you need to operate the lock / change the combination etc. The lock itself is light and small enough to carry all day, but it feels solid and well built. The retractable cable is reasonably thin - it would be unlikely to stop a dedicated thief for long but more than enough to deter a casual opportunist. It's also long enough to allow you to lock your skis to something solid without too much trouble.

This was a replacement for one I lost previously. Always feel a little concerned leaving expensive snowboard kit outside bars at the end of the day. Basic but does the job.

The cool lock is a design classic which has been around for years, and that's because it just works really well. It's compact, light, really easy to use, lets you set your own combination and has a neat retractable cable (and the cable’s end stows away neatly). It’s hard to set the combination with gloves on but if it’s going to be compact enough for your pocket then that’s always going to be a problem. It’s much tougher than it looks too, while the outer casing is plastic the important bits of the internals are robust metal so that even if someone were to smash away the casing, the locked cable would remain secure. No problems with low temperatures, happy being bashed around and getting wet, I even use mine as a bike lock out of season. Five stars from me.
