5 Dakine Cam Lock Review

I bought this lock to secure two pairs of skis when we go to Austria next week. We have tried it out and can fit both skis in very well. It saves us having to carry two locks when we go out skiing for the day, perfect! I have bought other Dakine products all of which I would recommend.

I spent a while researching locks for snowboards and found a few cases of the simple cable types being easily broken or unreliable, and to me the Dakine cam lock seemed like best out there. It's a little larger than I had thought, however it fits in it's bag in a pocket easily and was no trouble at all when riding. I had it on me for a week and would forget it was there until I needed it.

If you're looking for a lock then don't hesitate on this one!

I purchased the Dakine Cam Lock to secure my new skis whilst on the slopes. The usual retractable-style locks looked too flimsy. Dakine Cam Lock can be looped around any secure item, like a ski rack, and then locking end can be closed tight between the ski bindings to hold them safe.

This is a well made product with a handy padded carrying case. It's a little weighty, but I carry it in the thigh pocket of my salopettes and I forget it's there. It locks with a key (comes with a spare), which you don't want to lose! It's probably easier than trying to open a combination lock with gloves on though.

You could use the lock for snowboards or even a bike, although I doubt it would sustain a attack by a "tooled up" thief, it is perfect for the mountain. If you want to secure 2 pairs of skis, you are probably better just to lock 2 odd skis together, as there is a bit too much wiggle room in the locked cable loop if you try to secure 2 pairs together, and you can work the skis free of the lock.
