The Dakine Boot Locker is a large, tarp-lined duffle bag for keeping your boots safe and secure whilst keeping your other gear free from melted snow. The Boot Locker is large enough to hold two pairs of ski or snowboard boots or a pair of boots and a fair chunk of your clothing and other gear. In fact, by packing your ski bag and Boot Locker with clothing you can easily carry enough for short trips and avoid excess baggage charges. The tarp-lined lower section makes for a great changing mat to keep your socks from getting wet.

Bought this because I help at a dry ski slope each week and was fed up of forgetting stuff, wanted something that could hold boot and clothing and that I could leave in the car boot. It was hard to visualise the size but it nicely fits ski boots in the bottom compartment and leaves room to comfortably fit, fleece trousers, over-trousers, jacket, gloves, hat, etc. Stows nicely in the car boot and I haven't forgotten anything since. Had Dakine sack before and this is made to the same rugged standard, should last an last. Nice touch is the lining of both compartments, if it's a wet night I simply put the dry stuff in one and the wet in the other.

Awesome boot bag. Big, so very big.....but only just big enough! I have size 31.5 ski boots you see. I now own 3 boot bags but only one that I can get the boots in without straining the zip....this one. It’s close though and if it was made of a rigid material I doubt they would fit. The additional compartment may be considered excess to requirements but it is great when you are at a resort that requires some travelling. My colleagues were struggling with various bits of kit but I just put my helmet, gloves, goggles, full day sack and extra food and drink for when we got down in the top section. My coat went across the top and the big padded shoulder strap spread the load nicely and left both hands free for the skis and poles. Excellent. A very easy walk to the car which was some distance away.

I still had a little space available but personally I seriously doubt that you could get enough into it for a long weekend skiing, given how much one needs and the bulkiness of the trousers. I also doubt that when fully packed and bulging it would pass for cabin baggage as is suggested. Though, to be fair, the other reviewer here does suggest it as an addition to checked luggage, and people with smaller boots will have a bit of room in the base section.

The marketing also suggests that it would make a good changing mat, something else I doubt but maybe that is due to the size of my feet and the fact that I can successfully balance on one leg whilst putting a boot on. It is well constructed and of what appears to be a tough enough material to take the abuse but personally I’d rather look after mine.

What did surprise me was that the upper compartment is also waterproof lined, I was only expecting the boot section to be. Am I pleased with my purchase? You bet. This is a big step up from your average boot bag.

I have used this bag now a few times through airports and it is small enough to pass for carry on luggage but big enough to carry my ski boots in the lower sections along with some ski socks. In the top section I put my goggles and camera and a couple of days clothes still coming under 10KG.

The bag itself doesn’t even register on my digital weighing scales. It has enough room to pack clothes in there for a couple of days just in case your checked baggage gets lost/delayed. Superb all round, the ski boot section has drain holes in the bottom if your boots have ice/snow on them and the entire inside of the bag is tough and waterproof. The shoulder strap is really well padded and there are hand straps too.

A larger than a normal boot bag, big enough for short trips by itself and small enough for carry on luggage. The only negative is if you don’t fill it up, you may find it too big just for ski boots only, if that’s the case, then a normal ski boot bag would suit you better. A great buy.
