Care Plus Anti Insect For Kids is a less harsh alternative to DEET which still provides excellent repellency. In fact the World Health Organisation claims that saltidin, this product's main active ingredient, "demonstrates excellent repellent properties comparable to, and often superior to, those of the standard DEET". This high level of performance comes in a formula which lacks the corrosive qualities of DEET, meaning you won't have to worry about getting it on your jacket or tent.

We've been really pleased with this product. My young son has very sensitive skin and we have to be very careful with the kind of products we use. Previously we've used DEET-based products like the ubiquitous Jungle Formula (Family) which are certainly effective but always end up on their clothes and in their mouths despite our best efforts.
I haven’t noticed a huge difference in the performance of the Care Plus as a repellent, it works at least as well as the Jungle Formula, but the DEET-free formula is a definite advantage when it comes to the children. It’s worth noting that the Care Plus is also a pump spray rather than a lotion and I generally find it easier to apply.
