Black Diamond Pure Carbon Ski Poles Review
Reviewer: Jeremy Coleman, Saffron Walden, Essex (21-10-2010)
I purchased these Pure Carbon poles after years of using standard 125cm ski poles. My skiing is now leaning towards power and off piste, and I noticed the ease with which my friends/guides were completing long traverses. Their secret was adjustable poles, with big powder baskets. Lengthen the poles for the traverse, and then return to normal, or even shorter for deep powder.
The Pure Carbons are very light and of very high quality. The flip lock is very simple and easy to use with gloves on, and the attention to detail is superb. I particularly like the wrist strap, which is constructed in a Y format, with the leg of the Y attaching to the grip as single strap. This single strap then runs under you palm providing both greater comfort and ease of use (the Y configuration forces the strap to stay open, making it easier to get your hand in and out).
The alloy versions offer the same features, but I like buying the best, and admit to having something of a carbon fetish.
