The Black Diamond Micro-Stoppers (formerly known as Swedges) are designed to fill the gap in the market left by the demise of RPs and they're the best thin crack protection available today. The Micro-Stoppers feature a heavily flared trapezoidal shape which gives them versatile placement options in near-parallel and flaring cracks. The Micro-Stoppers are constructed from copper-infiltrated iron which is softer than is used on large nuts to give these maximum bite on crystals and rugosities within cracks. These are particularly strong on shallow, flaring cracks like you find on moorland grit and granite as their low profile shape offers solid placements even in the sketchiest of cracks.

I've been using the micro-stoppers for about six months now on sandstone, grit, dolorite, limestone and rhyolite and have found them an invaluable addition to my rack. Whilst the smallest sizes are genuinely tiny and may stuggle to hold a sizable fall (they are all CE rated for fall protection), the larger sizes are actually stronger than the smallest Stoppers or Nuts. The narrow, flared shape means that they sit better in shallow, bottoming cracks: a great advantage when you're climbing on sandstone or Moorland Grit. They also offer more bite than normal wires thanks to their unique head material - this is great on rocks like dolorite and limestone which have smoother sided cracks. The micro stoppers have all but replaced my Wild Country Rocks in the smallest sizes as they just perform the job better, I'd firmly recommend these to back up an existing rack of wires and extend your protection options.
