The Black Diamond Light D is the old school carabiner form Black Diamond, but it still has a place on any trad rack. It is ideal for racking wires and hex's but more importantly it's high strength back and shape make this a great carabiner for the aid climber where a symmetrical carabiner provides more stability.
The Light D has a nice low profile nose that is good for clipping through bolts at belay stations. The Light D is also a very economical carabiner and worth considering if you need to buy several carabiners at once.

Black Diamond Light D Review
Reviewer: Mitchell Musgrave, Durham (20-5-2011)
As stated, this is the backbone to my rack. This item is basic but highly versatile and I wouldn’t be without at least 3. If you need to set up winter ropes then this is the crab as with its simple shape and lack of screw it’s easy to use through gloves and loads perfectly. It’s also very handy double up with a second when setting up top ropes quickly as its loading capabilities are huge, however a screwgate would be advisable.
As for racking, well it doesn’t get damaged easily and being silver it continues to look new for a long time, the spring action is very positive and it holds up to any abuse well.
