Beal Top Gun II Dry Cover 10.5mm

Beal Top Gun II Dry Cover 10.5mm

The Beal Top Gun II Dry Cover is a durable all round single rope at a fairly hefty 10.5mm diameter. This gives it excellent durability, though it's not the lightest rope around. Despite the large diameter it is a very supple rope making it ideal for easy catches and clipping when at the wall or single pitch cragging for trad and sport.

Beal's Dry Cover coating is a sheath treatment which prevents the sheath from absorbing almost any water, it also protects from dirt, heat and abrasion. This coating gives the rope some additional protection and increases its longevity, but it isn't ideal for prolonged use in wet conditions.

Beal Top Gun 11 10.5mm 60m dry cover Rope. Just bought this rope as my first rope and I am really happy with it. Arrived super quick to Australia. Used once outdoors and happy with the handling and performance. I chose this rope as I has a high fall rating and is thick enough to not be too fast for a beginner to outdoor climbing. Quite a lot of stretch in the rope and runs smoothly in the Petzl Reverso 3. Good solid feel, the slightly extra weight does not effect me as it is mainly for sports climbs and top roping.

Pros:
  • Handy rope bag included
  • Great colour
  • Great price
  • Good handling. kink free and runs smoothly
Cons:

None as yet

Great priced rope, my first for lead climbing. Delivered very fast. The rope bag and mat that rolls out of it is pretty good too. Very pleased with both the rope and service.

This is a beast of a rope!!!! I have owned numerous climbing ropes over the years but this one tops the lot. The Top Gun II is a climbing rope for all occasions and for all levels of climbing. From indoor to outdoor, sport and trad, first time climber to pro wanting to work a really hard route and taking numerous falls..... this is the rope for you. It is easy to handle running smoothly through any belay device (from figure of 8 to grigri). Not to mention it comes with a very handy bag and rope mat, and is extremely reasonably priced!!!! I only have one issue with it, and that is that it is a bit heavy, but I guess that is a small price to pay for a rope that can take virtually any fall!!!

I've not been using the Beal Top Gun II for very long but I already feel that this rope is very easy to handle and work with, the sheath is very smooth and slides through the belay device very nicely giving control to the feed and take in of the rope.
The rope is also lightweight so when leading it is easy to clip in without too much rope drag. The rope starts off a little stiff but begins to wear in quite quickly and becomes looser, and the dynamics in the rope becomes more apparent.

I've been using this Beal Top Gun II since September and it's great. I selected this rope as an all rounder, it looked robust with a high number of falls etc, I've also found it easy to manage and light enough for myself and partner.
We climb indoors and out and it seems to resist dust, dirt and water very well. I thought the "free bag" would be rubbish but its actually really good - the tarp is not waterproof but fine on dry ground. The middle is marked too - important for ab downs.
It is the all rounder I wanted at a great price.

For those of you like me who need a great all rounder - you've found it! I have used it for trad, sport, and indoor climbing for a while now and have no complaints.
It's everything it's advertised to be. Totally bomb proof!

After a fair bit of research and shopping around I purchased the Beal Top Gun II 10.5mm and I am very happy with it.
It is good to handle and runs smoothly through the belay. I have used it outdoors and indoors for leading and top roping and I have been impressed with it every time.
It comes with a good quality bag which is another bonus at a competitive price compared to other ropes.
It is middle marked which assists with abseiling and by far the best feature is it's safety in taking so many falls! I would recommend to anyone looking for a safe all-rounder.
The only negative for me is that it is not available in 70m but it is fine for most routes I visit.

I bought this as my first rope for use in outdoor sports climbing. The main reason for choosing it was the high level of safety, which is ideal for a first rope - sharp edge testing reduces risk for those with limited rope-work experience, and a large number of guaranteed falls makes it a good rope if you are likely to fall a lot.
Not as light as other ropes and reasonably thick, but this is not so important to me as a relative beginner. Performance is solid, with falls feeling reassuringly cushioned.
The rope bag was a big bonus too - probably not as robust as some on the market, but good enough and the roll-out mat is great for keeping the rope clean.

Have been looking for a new rope for ages and was well pleased when I found the Top Gun. I was looking at the Mammut Flash Duraflex and Galaxy duraflex which are similar quality ropes and was really stuck between the three. It was down to price, length and treatment.
The pros of the top gun was a great fall factor and weight to thickness ratio. 10.5mm for 68g was lighter than the flash. If you are planning on walking miles with it you might want to look at a lighter rope but that is what happens when you get a thick rope. It fits in my snow and rock bug too if you worried about that.
I would recommend getting a 60m rope if you are ever thinking about 50m. can cut it in half and have two good indoor ropes or even trim the ends if you ever needed too.
Also at 117 you cannot complain about the price as you also get Beal Quality. The free rope bag and mat are also a great pro with this rope!
