BCA Shovel Extension

The BCA Shovel Extension is an extra handle section for the BCA B1 and Tour shovels. It increases the length of the handle by an extra 35cm / 14 inches to allow wider grip position when shovelling.
The Tour Shovel Extension is great for resort days when carrying a bit of extra weight is not a problem, but the extra digging potential could be invaluable. When weight and space matter just leave it at home.

BCA Tour Shovel Extension Review

This does what it claims, it makes digging quite a lot easier, I only tested this for kickers rather than a victim but the same applies.
It does make getting to the probe a little harder, but you should remove that and be using it before you start digging anyway. Also if you’re looking at this you presumably have the tour probe, which means the space in your bag where a probe normally goes is empty, I personally stuffed my emergency flare inside this to consolidate even more space.
Plus it cost less then a tenner!

This does the job it claims to extending the tour shovel by about 35cm. The extension fits well retracting and expanding on the existing shovel handle. It makes accessing your probe in the original shovel handle a bit more difficult. It feels solid when digging and makes digging a bit easier especially if you are tall. However, the extra length then makes the shovel itself feel small. Overall not bad and the price is not too steep either.
