The BCA Alpine Trekkers are an alternative to dedicated touring bindings and are sometimes called securafix. The Alpine Trekkers are an economical and versatile set-up for those that don't do much touring and want to use their everyday skis, but are more hassle and weight than ski touring bindings.
Click your Trekkers into your usual bindings, then click your boots into your Trekkers. Your heels are now free for walking. When you reach the top, remove your Trekkers and skins and place them in your rucksack. You are then free to descend on your normal bindings and skis.
Alpine Trekkers are just the thing for occasional touring, but for regular outings dedicated bindings are the way to go.
BCA Alpine Trekker Features:
- One-size fits all (240-355mm)
- Oval telescopic tubing
- Dual heel televators
- Ski crampon attachment (see related products below)

BCA Alpine Trekkers Review
Reviewer: Graham Pinkerton, Glasgow (23-4-2010)
The BCA trekker is not for you if you are interested in trying out touring and really want to get far out into the hills, hire a touring set up for the day, fall in love with touring, then buy a proper set up. The Trekkers are heavy, fiddly, feel very insecure when traversing steep skin tracks or kick turning and are more delicate than a dedicated touring binding.
What the trekkers are perfect for are when it's been snowing for the last week, the lift accessed areas are tracked out and you have to start bootpacking. Using the trekkers you can quickly get around low angled terrain without wading, then ski on your preferred skis for the conditions, in your alpine boots and with alpine bindings. Excellent! They can also work with Rossignol/look FKS style bindings by setting the boot plate as far forward as you can and taping a couple of mm spacer where the heel of your boot would rest on the trekker. (moderator, please feel free to remove this last tip!!)
A useful addition to your ski cupboard.
