The Arcteryx Cerium LT Vest is filled with premium 850 fill European goose down and will provide core body warmth as either a mid layer or outer piece. This is a superb vest for those that need to keep warm while working hard whether skiing or climbing in cold dry conditions.
The cerium is a trim cut hip length vest that has an elasticated rear hem, preventing unwanted drafts. The two zipped hand pockets will keep things secure but are great if your hands need a quick warm. All together a superb vest for the mountains or for all round winter warmth.
Arcteryx use Down Composite mapping (DCM) in the Cerium Vest. DCM is where Coreloft synthetic insulation is used instead of down in areas prone to moisture - the collar, and chin. These areas are also prone to down migration. The use of Coreloft eliminates this problem as it remains static within the Vest. Down is then used throughout the body where warmth is required the most. The perfect lightweight choice for the mountains.

I wanted a good quality gilet to wear on cool autumn and spring days when out walking; I like to wear short sleeves where possible but sometimes need an extra layer to keep the core temperature up.
This jacket fits the bill perfectly, in fact it significantly exceeds my expectations. It's warm, incredibly lightweight, very breathable and yet surpringly wind proof. As I've come to expect from Arc'teryx it's also very well made and beautifully tailored.
I've found myself wearing it in much colder weather than I expected - I don't hesitate to wear this over a short sleeve shirt when temperatures are well into single figures; worn over a lightweight fleece top extends the range even further.
Pros - Very well made. Very warm. Incredibly lightweight. Very small pack volume.
Cons - Expensive, you're paying for the brand.
Overall I have no hesitation in recommending this product, and yes I'd happily buy it again.
A quality down vest - thin enough to go under most jackets. Adds a nice bit of extra heat - but not in itself massively warm as its not that thick.
I tend to use it when its too cold for just a long sleeve merino wool top and hard shell - but too warm for a thick warm jacket such as my Montane Extreme jacket which is strictly for zero and below temperatures if actively walking.
The man made collar insulation feels quite good and makes sense - its almost impossible to stop some wetness coming in at the top of a hardshell coat. This way I get the warmth and lightness of down without the paranoia of getting it wet.
